September 2012: Protea Hotel Tyger Valley, which is located in the heart of Cape Towns northern suburbs where numerous national companies are headquartered, is starting construction of a new multipurpose venue this month.
The construction, starting 6 September, will also include combining the restaurant and bar space to accommodate 120 people and sprucing up the exterior of the hotel.
The new multipurpose facility can be used as two spaces or combined to create one larger venue. Flooded with natural light, it will be ideal for product launches, company gatherings, seminars, cocktail parties and weddings.
It will also have a large deck with magnificent 180-degree views that stretch from the Boland mountains to Table Bay and the twinkling lights of the city that lie under Table Mountain and Lions Head. This space will be ideal for outdoor lunches, dinners and cocktail parties.
Each of the two indoor spaces will be equipped with data projectors, drop down screens and block-out curtains.
Protea Hotel Tyger Valley is an extremely popular and affordable executive hotel with 100 rooms, two of them equipped for disabled GUESTS.
Each room has a flat-screen TV, DVD player, work desk, electronic safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
General Manager Siyanda Dlamini said the new multipurpose venue would be an exciting addition to the already bustling hotel.
Because of the structure of the hotel, which is built in separate units, there will be minimal disruption to GUESTS during the processs, he said.
Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, said this project was the latest refurbishment of nearly 20 hotels in the portfolio.
It reaffirms the hotel OWNERS commitment to maintaining the Protea Hotels Brand Standard that sees most of our business originating from return GUESTS, Bryer said. The new venue at Protea Hotel Tyger Valley will be yet one more draw-card and I have no doubt that it will prove to be popular with GUESTS and visitors alike.
