The Hospitality Investment Conference Africa (HICA) is now open to receive nominations for the annual HICA Awards 2010. Media and the members of the travel and tourism industry are invited to nominate deserving projects and/or individuals for the HICA Awards, to be presented during the main conference which will be held from 31 October to 2 November 2010, at the Sandton Sun Hotel in Johannesburg.
The awards, which are adjudicated and verified by Grant Thornton Strategic Services, aim to recognise excellence and innovation within the Sub-Saharan hospitality sector and the broader Tourism industry. Past recipients of the awards include Adrian Gardiner of the Mantis Collection (Tourism Business Leadership Award), Andrew McLachlan of the Rezidor Hotel Group (Upcoming ‘Mover and Shaker’), Kate Els of Southern Africa Tourism Update (Excellence in Travel and Tourism reporting) and projects such as Protea Hotel Willow Lake (Best New Hotel Development).
Four categories have been chosen for the awards in 2010:
• The Best New Hotel Investment Award
• The Best New Non-Hotel Accommodation Investment Award
• Excellence in Travel and Tourism Reporting
• Upcoming Industry ‘Mover and Shaker’ Award
